Pregnancy is dated from day 1 of a patient's last menstrual period. We offer surgical abortion services from 6 weeks 3 days to 13 weeks 6 days from the first day of the last menstrual period. Ultrasound will be performed to verify gestational age. Vacuum aspiration, the most modern and by far the safest method, is used. Because the simplest technique is used, discomfort is kept at a minimum.

A patient whose pregnancy is less than 12 weeks and is at least 17 years old will have a choice of sedation with surgical abortion. This choice is between oral sedation or a twilight sedation (which is given intravenously with stronger medications). Patients under age 17 will be required to receive IV twilight sedation. Patients who are 12 to 13 weeks 6 days will also be required to receive IV twilight sedation which is included in the fee for abortion.

The fee for surgical abortion service includes lab work, counseling, ultrasound, pelvic exam, all medications used for the procedure, as well as take-home medications and a follow-up appointment for a few weeks after the initial visit. The patient will have prescriptions that will need to be filled at a pharmacy.
